Wally Morris helps her young friend Paige Griffin pack up her son and their lives in Manhattan to move to an old mansion on the shores of Lake Champlain. When Wally boards the train to return to New Jersey, she pushes aside her worries about how they will adjust and wishes her friends well. She has no way of knowing that their new home on the edge of the Adirondacks, owned by Paige’s traveling uncle, was the scene of a murder. Wally’s concern for the Griffins’ safety has her shuttling between New Jersey and upstate New York. It seems unlikely that her help will be needed, or even appreciated, but when the local police have no leads and suspicious events continue, Wally must determine who is wreaking havoc in the bucolic little town.
